Has there ever been a review of the various Golf GPS units available to buy ?

Places like golfgalaxy.com have customer reviews. golfwrx.com also has product reviews.

which golf gps device is the best?

I have an old Sky Caddie and would like to upgrade. I would also like one that you don’t have to pay a yearly subscription. Any suggestions.

GolfLogix GPS by Garmin is a best one or Sonocaddie, SkyCaddie.

I suggestion these popular golf gps:

1. GolfLogix GPS by Garmin
2. Sonocaddie V300 Color GPS Unit
3. SkyCaddie SG5 Golf GPS
4. SkyCaddie SG2.5 Golf GPS

Has anyone used the freecaddie golf gps software on the Samsung Omnia?

I am trying to select a course which i have transferred over to my phone, but i can’t open it with freecaddie. I have followed all instructions but nothing is working. Any suggestions?

I have used the free-caddie before, but I was really not happy at all with it. I think the sync technology is still a couple of years off…phone technology is just not there yet.

After I played with it and was frustrated for a few weeks, I just went out and got a Yardage Pro Golf GPS. It was not too expensive and it works flawlessly. I found them online for $200.

Does any one know if I can get a Golf GPS application on my Samsung Instinct? If so, how/where?

I want to get some sort of golf course GPS, but they can get pretty pricey. I see various programs for mobile phones, but I haven’t found anything that works on my new Samsung Instinct. Any suggestions?

I think there are some free application at the website below, not sure about a golf gps application.

Which golf GPS unit should I buy and why?

I’ve heard/read about Sky Caddie, Garmin, iGolf, etc. Please feel free to give me the pros and cons.

Things to consider include: 1) memory (# of courses the unit will hold at one time which affects how often you may want to reload it) 2) construction/durability/display screen size 3)battery type (built in rechargeable vs. regular alkaline or changeable rechargeable) 4)annual fee 5)company support to change or map courses.

I purchased and am highly satisfied with the GolfLogix (Garmin) unit. It holds 10 different courses although a 27 hole course may be broken up into 3 memory items which is true on all units. Courses are mapped very accurately including sand and water distances on most holes. It has a large display and is very durable. It uses regular batteries or rechargeable which are easily changed if you should run low even during a round. You can usually play 3 to 4 rounds on new or charged batteries. Annual fee is only $30 vs. $60 on others. The company is very responsive when requesting a course be changed due to layout or newly mapped if unavailable in their data base (2-4 days). Keep your head down & swing hard in case you hit it!

What cell phone is best suited to golf GPS software?

I’ve seen guys using the Apple iPhone as their dedicated GPS system on the course, but would like to hear from others before I rush out and spend $500+ on a cell phone!
I’m looking for help, not foolish answers from uninformed clowns. If you can’t help, don’t answer

iphone 3g i think they have application for that or the new blackberry

Whats the best Rangefinder or GPS for golf?

I am thinking about getting a range finder for golf . . . Do you have to get a membership to skycaddie in order to use it for golf courses? Also, would you consider a laser rangefinder or a Golf GPS better all around? Whatever your answer, which do you think is the best laser or GPS on the market?
A) get a GPS much better then a rangefinder (I’ve had both) B) SkyCaddie is great & you can map your own courses for free or subscribe to yearly fees C) I had a Nikon rangefinder & it worked well

Is there golf gps capability for blackberry pearl cell phones?

My fiance has a blackberry pearl cell phone and t mobile is his carrier. He wants Golf GPS and heard that it could be hooked up into the cell phone. I was wondering if anyone knows about the whole Golf gps and if there’s software or something that could be compatible with the cell phone.
YES GolfTraxx… Currently works for 88xx, 83xx (curve) and Pearl with the GPS enabled. (Folks at VZN will have to buy an external GPS receiver and bluetooth sync.) Provides distance to Front, Center and Back of the Green, tee shot target on par 4s and 5s. On courses that are mapped in detail – distance to layup or carry over multiple hazards per hole. GolfTraxx is community based, meaning all courses are mapped by users. It is FREE when you send in a map of a course they don’t have, or you can buy it for 30 bucks. GolfTraxx ALSO has versions for WMobile, Palm OS and Pocket PC operating systems. Basically, zero cost for an even better experience than you get with the GPS bricks out there. = )
